The vehicle must be registered as a combination with its proper gross weight class of up to 80,000 lbs. and no less than the net weight of the vehicle and trailer along with the rated carrying capacities of both. The county tax assessor issues this plate and they impose and collect all taxes and fees. A diesel or non-diesel specification is also needed to calculate the cost of this kind of registration.

You'll need to provide a copy of this form in order to process your vehicles registration renewal. If you can not supply this, you will need to provide a copy of the title for the vehicle being registered, in it's place.
In the event that a registration renewal notice can not be provide, you'll need to provide a copy of title for the vehicle being registered. This is required to show proof that we have permission from the owner on record to renew this vehicles registration sticker and plate.
State law requires that proof of valid and current insurance be shown on all vehicles renewing registration. The insurance card must show the year, make, VIN, policy number, date of expiration, and phone number for the insurance company providing the policy.
Purchaser's Drivers' License: This serves as a form of authorization. Texas D.O.T. feels that if we can acquire a copy of your Drivers License than we must be authorized to perform services on your behalf.
In addition to all copies of Drivers License or ID you'll also be required to sign a letter of authorization. This is for your protection, as well as ours. IRS Form 2290 Heavy Road and Use Taxes If your vehicle is to carry a combined gross weight of 55,000 lbs or more, you will have to show proof that payment was made for Heavy Road and Use Taxes or a Form 2290 and Schedule 1 to show proof of payment. If you have not paid these taxes, we can make arrangements to have these taxes paid as part of your apportion renewal service for an addition $85.00 services fee plus your taxes. The tax amount for your form 2290 are usually $550.00 and are due in May of every year. If you have not paid these taxes however, a penalty will be assessed by the IRS, which will raise the actual cost of your taxes. However, there are exemptions should your vehicle not have been in operations in months prior to your filling of form 2290.
If at the time of registration you feel that you would like to obtain new license plates, you may do so. The County Tax Assessor-Collectors office will issue you an new set of standard plate. The fee for that is $6.30. In some cases, should your plates be more than 5 years old the county clerks may offer to replace them free of charge.
